Rivers Police Arrest Imo Jail Escapee For Murder

According to the CP, the suspect allegedly killed two persons in his community in Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area of Imo State before fleeing to Rivers.

An inmate, Peter Ogudu,  who escaped from the Owerri Correctional Centre, Imo State during a jailbreak in 2021 has been rearrested by the Rivers State Police Command.
 
The State Commissioner of Police, CP Nwonyi Polycarp Emeka, disclosed this at a press conference in Port Harcourt on Tuesday, June 6, 2023.
 
According to the CP, the suspect allegedly killed two persons in his community in Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area of Imo State before fleeing to Rivers.
 
“On 02/06/2023, Operatives of the Command arrested one Peter Ogudo, ‘m’ aged 32, a native of Awara in Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area of Imo State, in his hideout at Nkpor- Rumuolumeni, Port Harcourt, for the murder of two persons in his community,” the Commissioner stated.
     
“The suspect had been on the watch list of the Police since he escaped from lawful custody during jailbreak in the Owerri Correctional Centre in April 2021.”

     
In another development, the police boss said operatives arrested a two-man car snatching syndicate during a stop-and search operation in Port Harcourt.
     
“On 02/06 2023, Operatives of the Command, while conducting stop and search, arrested one Ndubuisi Brown, aged 48 and one Amaechi Kenneth, aged 35, and could not give satisfactory account of the said vehicle, along Army Range Road, Eneka. Exhibits recovered include; one red-coloured Lexus 300 Jeep with Lagos Reg. No. APP 664 BQ," he added.
     
"On 04/06/2023 at about 1730hrs, Operatives of the Command acting on a tip-off, raided the Den of Greenlander cult group terrorizing Udebu Community in Ahoada East LGA and its environs. During the inferno, one Bright 'm’ surname unknown, from Ahoada West LGA, was fatally wounded. He was rushed to General Hospital Ahoada, where he was certified dead. Exhibits recovered; one locally fabricated G-3 rifle with eight rounds of live G-3 ammunition, one locally made pistol that uses AK47 ammunition, one cutlass, and three phones.”
