Halima Kyari Joda, the Chairperson, Caretaker Management Committee of Fika Local Government Area of Yobe State, has led security operatives to destroy 22 cartons of alcohol, and arresting of 92 persons involved in operating a local brothel in the Ngalda community, Daily Post reports.
The joint operation, which was led by Joda, was carried out last Monday in Ngalda village and comprised the Army, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Police Force (NPF), Hisba, and local vigilantes, among others.
The spokesman of the Chairperson, Abubakar Ayuba Idris, confirmed the development while speaking to newsmen.
“Ngalda town was well known for business and agricultural activities and that residents of the community have expressed their concern about how the situation is ruining their children’s education”, he said.
Aside from the confiscation of cartons of alcohol and banning of the local brothel in the community during the operation, 92 suspects of various crimes such as selling alcohol, prostitution, selling of illicit drugs and local weapons were also arrested.
DAILY POST gathered that the local joint had become a perfect hiding place for criminal elements from neighbouring states.
