Skales
Popular Nigerian singer, Raoul John Njeng-Njeng, better known as Skales, has disclosed that when he left Empire Mates Entertainment (EME), owned by singer, Banky W, his whole life changed as he did not have a dime.
Skales disclosed this in a recent interview with Beat 99.9 FM, Lagos, stating he became homeless and resolved to sleep in his car after EME failed to renew his recording deal.
According to the ‘Shake Body’ crooner, he went from enjoying a luxury lifestyle to being penniless as EME management evicted him from their apartment.
Skales also revealed that he contemplated relocating abroad before his song ‘Shake Body’ blew up and changed his life.
The singer added that he didn’t even have money for promotion, nevertheless, the song spread like wildfire.
He said, “When I left EME, I had nothing. Everything just ended in one day. I went from enjoying a luxurious life to sleeping in the car. As soon as my deal ended, I lost the house, they [EME management] told me to leave the house immediately.
“All I had was one car, a Ford Explorer. And I was sleeping inside the car for a long time. Little did I know that I had a song that was going to change my life on my flash drive. So months later, I just put out the song [‘Shake Body’].
“I didn’t have any promo money, nothing. I just uploaded it on Soundcloud. And it was just a wildfire. It was crazy. I didn’t even know the song was big. I believed, but I gave up because I was trying to japa [relocate abroad]. Then I got a call from Harry Tee, God rest his soul. That was how my life changed.”
