Adenike Wellington, the Nigerian actress, has explained that no one ever asked her for s*x in exchange for roles while she was trying to find her footing in the industry.
Wellington aka Sisi Wellie, who was reacting to the allegations of s*x for roles in the film industry, said ‘No, I have never been asked for s*x to get role(s). Maybe some younger actors, but I do not have such experience.”
The Secretariat Admin graduate of Yaba College of Technology and Transworld Tutorial College, United Kingdom enrolled at the Kunle Afod’s Legacy School of Performing Arts at the age of 58 after retirement from her white collar job and has featured in not less than 30 movies.
The member of The Golden Movies Ambassadors Association of Nigeria (TGMAAN) also noted that the industry is progressing and gaining more acceptance because it is no longer seen as a place for unserious people.
Wellington, who says she has had the privilege of working with top acts in the industry such as Kunle Afod, Akin Lewis, Jum?k? George, Fathia Balogun to mention a few, also revealed some industry acts she admires and would like to work with.
“I really admire Richard Mofe Damijo for his professionalism, same for Muyiwa Ademola and Sola Sobowale to mention but a few. I also admire Bimbo Ademoye for what she has achieved and would like to work with her,” she said.
Now a grandmother, the 63-year-old actress says she has no inhibition exploring her passion, as her children are grown up and the grandchildren are with their parents.
