Ex-governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi is commiserating with the grieving families that lost their loved ones in an accident that occurred in Abagana market on Wednesday.
The accident occured after a Toyota Sienna lost control of its brake and rammed into the Oye-Agu Abagana Market, in Njikoka Local Government Area, Anambra State.
The accident led to the death of three persons, while many traders who were standing by the roadside were severely injured and goods destroyed.
The President-General of the Abagana Community, Ben Okongwu, told Vanguard that “no fewer than three persons died in the crash, including an under-aged child, while some other persons sustained some degrees of injuries“.
In his condolence message on Thursday, the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate called on the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) to stand firm in implementing road safety measures.
“I am disheartened by the sad news reports of a fatal road accident which occurred at a local market in the Abagana Community of Anambra State, where some lives, were lost, and others injured.
I encourage the Road Safety Commission to remain firm in implementing road safety measures and ensure that road users strictly obey road traffic rules and regulations.
I sincerely condole with the families who have lost loved ones, and pray for the quick recovery of those injured,” Obi wrote on his X handle.
