Peter Obi spoke during the grand finale rally for Olumide Akpata, the LP candidate for the governorship which was held in Benin on Wednesday
Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s (LP) 2023 presidential candidate has issued a warning to the Independent National Electoral Commission and security agencies ahead of the Edo State gubernatorial election.
He warned INEC and security agencies not to allow cheating during the election.
Obi said this during the grand finale rally for Olumide Akpata, the LP candidate for the governorship which was held in Benin on Wednesday.
“Election rigging is coming to an end in this country. This time around, anyone who rigs election, we will rig him,” he stated.
Obi emphasized the daily hardships Nigerians face and criticized state governors who defer responsibilities to the federal government, detracting from their obligations to citizens. He assured the crowd that Akpata would not follow that path.
In addition, the leader of the Libertarian Party urged security services and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to support a credible, fair, and free election this Saturday.
He called on the people of Edo State to cast their votes for both Akpata and Yusuf Kadiri, his running companion, in big numbers.
Obi’s running mate for the 2023 presidential race, Datti Baba-Ahmed, backed the appeal and urged LP members to use their numbers to help their candidate win.
