Group of OOU Students Invade Morgue and Evacuate Colleagues Corpes

 

You remember the story I wrote about the fatal accident that occurred along Sagamu expressway on Friday, June 26, that killed students of Olabisi Onabanjo University? Well, the grieving colleagues of the deceased on Saturday, June 27, stormed the morgue their bodies were being kept and forcefully took them away.

 

Reports say that the corpses were taken to a private hospital in Sagamu, Ade Maternity Home, after the auto crash that killed the students, but the hospital management demanded N20,000 for each corpse before they could release them to their families.

 

The development was said to have infuriated the OOU students who invaded the hospital, visibly ready for chaos, and evacuated the bodies of their fellow students without paying a penny.

 

They moved them to the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital morgue in Sagamu.

 

According to a report, a source at the hospital confirmed the corpses had been taken away.

 

The Ogun State police command had confirmed on Saturday that OOU students, eight of them, were killed in an accident which occurred on Friday at Ilishan Junction, along Sagamu/Benin Expressway.

 

No fewer than 12 people died in the accident.

 

The police explained that, a DAF truck with number plate BDG 779 XE carrying a container had a head-on collision with a Mazda commercial bus with number plate XV 311 MUS, which was occupied by the victims.

 

The deceased, five females and seven males, were killed instantly.

 

The state police spokesman, Muyiwa Adejobi, said that three of the students were pursuing pre-degree program at the University, while the only survivor is a 300-level Chemistry student of the institution.
