2026 WCQ: Odemwingie Slams NFF Over Comments On Troost-Ekong, Dessers

Former Super Eagles striker, Osaze Odemwingie, has criticized the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) for targeting individual players for blame after the recent 2026 World Cup qualifier.

The three-time African champions needed two wins from two fixtures in September to keep their hopes alive.

After a narrow 1-0 victory against Rwanda in Uyo, Nigeria were held to a 1-1 draw in South Africa.

Following the draw in Bloemfontein, the NFF in a post-match report, pointed fingers at captain William Troost-Ekong and striker Cyriel Dessers.

“It is a sign that wrong people are working in our federation, it’s very unprofessional,” Odemwingie said according to Brila FM.

“These are people who work in certain positions without the required qualifications.

“They are just like fans — you can give that job to ordinary fans, and he will probably do a job as good as that person has done.”
