A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) loyal to Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike has vowed to take control of the party’s headquarters next Monday.
Recall that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, on Thursday recognised the Wike-led faction.
The commission allowed representatives from the faction to attend its first quarterly stakeholders’ meeting with political parties in 2026.
Addressing journalists after the meeting, factional National Secretary of the PDP, Samuel Anyanwu, said “by next Monday, we will take over the PDP headquarters”.
The party has been facing an unending leadership crisis, splitting it into two factions.
The Wike-backed group recently scheduled a national convention for March 28–29, 2026, but opposing governors and stakeholders in the other faction have rejected the move.
