The National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement, Yunusa Tanko, has dismissed Senate President Godswill Akpabio’s claim that nine states lack sufficient mobile network coverage to support the electronic transmission of election results, calling it false.
Tanko said if banks are working, then electronic transmission of election results should be easy.
In a phone-in conversation with Nigeria Info FM 99.3, Tanko said: “It’s a total lie, but if they want to withdraw money it’s easy for them to withdraw. Is there any bank that has ever complained that there is no network for you to withdraw money?
“Is it not shameful to compare us to India? India has more population, more landmarks than us, yet they can reveal the result of an election in one day.
“But we can’t cover our country with network. If they are serious they just need to give marching order to make sure that there is network everywhere.”
