$23k For Straightforward Procedure - US-Based Nigerian Man Laments Huge Hospital Bill He Received After Wife Gave Birth

Ifeanyi Eze, a U.S.-based Nigerian man, who is married to an American woman, has decried the high cost of childbirth in the country.

Ifeanyi made his grievance known on Facebook after he received a bill of $23k from the hospital where his wife gave birth. 

According to him, his insurance took lion’s share of the bill otherwise he would have cried like his newborn. 

"Hospital sent us bill for having our baby with them. $23k for a straightforward procedure and staying there for two days,” he wrote 

"Next time you hear healthcare workers make money in America, remember it’s patients and their insurance that pay those costs.

“Thanks to my insurance that took lion’s share of the bill. I for cry pass the newborn baby.”
