Plateau State University, Bokkos, has appointed two women as Deputy Vice-Chancellors.
Associate Professor Keziah Ayuba is now DVC Administration, while Associate Professor Martha Niri Choji is DVC Academic.
The school's Public Relations Officer, Masara Kim, shared this in a statement in Jos on Friday.
He said the appointments were made at the 106th Special Meeting of Senate on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, chaired by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Shedrack Best.
The appointments came after the tenures of the former DVCs ended.
Ayuba was re-appointed for a second two-year term, while Choji was named for the first time to replace Prof. Pyefa Galadima, who served two terms as DVC Academic from 2022.
The Vice Chancellor nominated them under the University Law and Senate approved both unanimously.
With this, PLASU becomes the second Nigerian university to have two female DVCs at the same time.
The University of Ibadan was the first, in November 2021.
Choji has served as Head of the Mathematics Department, the Remedial Science Programme and the new Department of Statistics.
Prof. Best said the picks reflect his commitment to equity, inclusivity and merit.
He asked the new DVCs to settle in quickly, saying the school has a lot to catch up on, including accreditation of 11 programmes and the start of a new academic session.
He also thanked the outgoing DVC Academic, Prof. Moses Galadima, for his selfless service.
He praised his work on accreditation, examinations, prompt payment of fees by students and the digitisation of registration and transcripts.
Ayuba thanked the Senate and the Vice Chancellor on behalf of her colleague and promised to support the vision of the administration, saying all things are possible together as a team.
