Former Edo State governor and ADC chieftain John Odigie Oyegun has said sorry to Nigerians.
He said he helped bring the APC and President Tinubu to power in 2023, and he now regrets it.
Oyegun led the APC as national chairman from 2015 to 2019.
He moved to the ADC earlier this year.
He said Nigerians are now paying for that mistake and that the 2027 election is a chance to put things right.
He spoke in Benin City at a town hall meeting where the party presented its vice presidential candidate, Rotimi Amaechi.
Oyegun said the ADC wants to rescue the country by backing Atiku and Amaechi.
He said the party was tricked once and will not let it happen again.
He also raised concern about political threats in Edo State, including claims that AK-47 rifles were being used to scare people.
He asked whether this is the kind of political climate people want.
Amaechi also spoke at the meeting.
He said the economic policies of the Tinubu government are pushing more people into poverty every day.
He pointed to the removal of the fuel subsidy as a major reason prices have gone up and made life harder for ordinary people.
