Chukwuemeka Ohanaemere, popularly known as Odumeje and the General Overseer of Mountain of Holy Ghost Intervention and Deliverance Ministry, says he does not collect tithes or preach about them in his church.
He spoke on an online podcast, in an episode posted online, on Monday.
He said his church focuses on showing spiritual power, not on teaching about tithes and giving.
He criticised churches that put too much effort into collecting money from members.
In his view, those churches talk about money every week but show little real proof of miracles, so people are left with only stories.
He made it clear that he does not think tithing is wrong.
He said paying tithe should be a personal choice between a person and God, and no one should be pushed or brainwashed into it.
He also said it is not true that someone who skips tithe will miss heaven.
He called that teaching untrue and not from God.
