She was elected president of OPEC today, Thursday during an ongoing  166th General Meeting of OPEC in Vienna, Austria.

She is to replace the former president of OPEC, who happens to be the Libyan Vice Prime Minister for Corporations, Abdourhman Atahar Al-Ahirish.

The petroleum body is expected to take decisions that would stop the dwindling price of crude oil in the 166th meeting.

Al-Ahirishhad in his opening remarks started that ample supply, moderate demand, a stronger US dollar and uncertainties about global economic growth has been the major cause in the fluctuating state of crude.
