A horrific footage of a Thai soldier being brutally beaten with a cane for apparently failing to complete a drill has sparked outrage after the clip surfaced online.
The video shows the moment the young man is being assaulted and beaten mercilessly as he crouched on a patch of grass with no shoes on. One of the men could be seen hitting him full force with a cane as he crouches in agony at the Cavalry Centre in Saraburi, Thailand.
The man strikes him three times, waiting for him to recover between each blow. He also can be seen kicking the soldier as he writhes in pain on the ground.
Then a second solider joined in the beating and struck him three times with another cane before the first soldier kicked him repeatedly in the head.
The man was reportedly being punished for failing to complete a drill. Other officers walked by calmly by as the beating happened in broad daylight, Dailymail reported.
However, people have spoken bad about the video and expressed disgust at the punishment being meted out on the poor kid. The public outcry has forced army officials to start looking for the perpetrators with a view of punishing them.
Army spokesman Colonel Winthai Suwari said: 'This is improper conduct against the participants of military training.
'We found that the unit is the cavalry centre and we have ordered to conduct an investigation immediately.
'The way that the teacher is seen training people is not in accordance with regulations set by the government. This constitutes a breach of regulations and orders of the superiors.'
'Troops who have taken part in this inappropriate behavior will be punished severely.'
