Shane Davis, a 26-year-old man killed a granddad in a horror smash and then taunted his victim's family with a sick Facebook message.

According to a report by The Sun UK, Shane Davis veered into the wrong lane and crashed head-on into William Day's car, killing the 82-year-old.

Tragic William's injured wife Chris died in hospital nine days later from a heart attack, but her death was not linked directly to the crash.

One of the messages allegedly posted by Davis on social media said: "Twinkle twinkle little star, I want to hit you with my car, throw you off a tree so high, hope you break your neck and die."

Another appeared to be about a previous court appearance when he had seen the family's car parked outside.

It read: "they couldn't even afford a parking ticket with their disabled car".

One post read: "Bunch of cowards - no-one has the balls to fight me - only go and hide."

William's heartbroken family believe the messages were aimed at them, but David denies all of the messages were posted by him.

He also complained about having his photograph taken outside court, flicking a two-finger salute.

Shameless Davis fumed: "F****** perverts, taking my picture".

Steve Young, defending, told the court not all of the messages were posted by Davis.

Mr Young added: "He has not set out to make matters worse for the family."

He told Gloucester Crown Court Davis could not remember the horror crash.

The killer driver suffered a bleed on his brain, fractured neck and skull, and breaks to his ribs and leg.

Davis, of Cirencester, Gloucs, admitted causing William's death by careless driving on November 14 last year while more than one-and-a-half times over the drink drive limit.

He was jailed for six years and banned from driving for the same period of time.
