Shocking details have revealed that the alleged kidnappers who died yesterday in Ikom were reportedly executed by the police.

Men of the Nigeria Police have been accused of extrajudicial killing of five alleged kidnappers who were arrested in Ikom area of Cross River state, yesterday.

According to information released by Iwara U. Iwara, a presenter with Hit FM, Calabar, the five alleged kidnappers were reportedly executed by the police after they were arrested.

The police officers involved in the act have been accused of killing the suspected kidnappers to cover their tracks. It was also alleged that the people that were arrested might actually not be the real kidnappers who abducted the woman.

The first photo Iwara shared showed the alleged kidnappers after they were arrested and stripped purportedly at the police station. While the second photo showed the bodies of the alleged kidnappers lying in the pool of their blood after they were executed.

He wrote: "Ikom KIDNAP suspects: One minute they had all been arrested by the Police and the next minute they "were all shot in a gun battle with the Police". Let us PRAY!"

It was reported in the news yesterday that the alleged kidnappers died during gun battle with the police. However, many people have wondered how the alleged kidnappers could have died in a gun battle when they had already been arrested and held in custody by the police.

Nigerians have called on police authorities to investigate the alleged extrajudicial killing of the suspected kidnappers as such impunity cannot be allowed in a civil state like Nigeria.
