You won't believe what this Brazilian bodybuilder injected himself with just to look like 'Incredible Hulk' (Photos)

A Brazilian bodybuilder, Romario Dos Santos Alves, who wanted so much to look like American superhero, 'Incredible Hulk' of the Marvel comics fame, got more than he bargained for when the potentially lethal cocktail he injected himself with, almost cost him his life.

A bodybuilder, Romario Dos Santos Alves, who wanted to look like the Marvel Comics character, Incredible Hulk, risked his life injecting oil into his arms.

In order to achieve the film character’s physique, Alves, 25, turned to a cocktail of oil, painkillers and alcohol to pump up his biceps - with astounding results.

The married dad-of-one says his experiences of using the synthetic filler 'synthol' cost him his sanity and nearly his life and he was even scheduled to have both his arms amputated by doctors.

"I remember the doctor told me that they would need to amputate both arms. They said everything in there, all my muscles, were rock.

"It was either that or cut all of my muscles out", he said.

The former bodyguard recalled that by a stroke of divine providence, his doctor, however, said the amputation would no longer take place.

"…The doctor told me that they did not have to amputate - they could instead remove the synthol rocks, which had formed in my arms".

Although Alves, who still nurses the ambition to become a professional bodybuilder, says he has not used the substance for two years, he confesses that other muscle enhancing drugs still tempt him from time to time.

"I regret it [my actions] a lot - my ambition is still to become a bodybuilder but I've got a long way to go.

"I know I will achieve it though", he said with optimism.
