Chaos As Fire Razes shops At Kumasi Market

Reports say the fire started on Wednesday around midnight. Security men guarding the central market said they saw the fire start at one of the shops after a brief interruption in power supply.

The fire would have spread to more shops, but the timely intervention by personnel from the Menhyia Fire Division stopped the late night fire.

Assistant Station Officer, John Danquah, said his department is yet to ascertain the cost of the destruction. He also said the cause of fire too cannot be established.

He said, however, that the Menhyia Fire Division is still collecting information to establish the cause and cost of the inferno.
