World's Tallest Man Dies at 26

 

26-year old Pornchai Saosri, who measured a staggering 8ft 8ins (269cm), and thought to be one of the tallest in the world had been plagued by several illnesses related to his unusual rate of growth.

 

He had recently been treated in hospital but he has sadly passed on.

 

Pornchai was bedridden and being cared for by his father Saran, 60, his mother Mrs Woen, 56, and their 15-year-old granddaughter before his death.

 

 

Mrs Woen reported that her son had died at 10.05am on November 9 at their home on Ban Takaeo village in the Prasat district of Thailand. She said she had found her son dead after returning from washing dishes.

 

Mr Woen said after Pornchai's illness and his unusual growth was reported by the media, people from across the country had sent money to a bank account opened for donations and she had received a total of 110,000 baht.

She said she spent part of the money to redeem her house, which she had mortgated for money to pay for Pornchai's medical care and other necessities before his death.

Mrs Woen said she had about 50,000 baht left in the bank account and it would be used for Pornchai's funeral.
