Adams Yemmy, the manager of one of the artistes who died in a studio in the Alagbado area of Lagos, on Saturday, September 12, made some startling claims on the incident.
Two musicians identified as Ajibawo Lawal and Sunday Akhigbe, popularly known as Santa Boya, were found dead inside a studio in Awolusi Bus stop on September 3. Six others were found unconscious.
They were found dead by residents around 7 a.m, after an all night performance inside the studio. The residents told a police source that a generator and some hard drugs were found inside the studio.
This has led to speculations that they might have died as a result of the hard drugs or fumes from the generator.
However, Yemmy, the CEO of Darootz Entertainment took to Facebook on Saturday, September 12, to debunk the alcocol and drug speculations. He also accused the Alagbado police of refusing to release the body of Santa Bya to his family for burial.
Writing further, Yemmy claimed that the owner of the studio, said to be son of the Bale of the area, knows more about the death of the musicians than he told the police.
Sharing screenshots of Facebook posts insinuating that his artiste died from drug overdose, Yemmy describe Santa Boya as "a promising artist" that would have outshined Chris Brown if he had lived.
"Mr poster kindly seek for almighty forgiveness.. Santa Boya known as Sunday Akhigbe my artist does not drink.. he was contracted to come and produce for those artist. they where five in number in the studio not four as reported,"
''I was informed the owner of the studio is a bale son of the area.. His definitely the only person who knows more than what we all knows about his last time they spent in his studio ... police are not poor man's friends.... Deep down we all know that... . I am not surprise that you listen to people comment without making verification from close relatives. Santa Boya might have been poisoned... with the pictures we have seen.... lots of expert feedback shows clearly they where poisoned or drunk, and Santa does not drink... Do you think like me now?

Which one got that reaction? .... Forming from mouth.
''God's knows what's hidden from human .. till now police refused to release my artist Santa Boya corps. because the owner of the studio got Baba isale he was released the second day after he was arrested. And information reaching us that he left the studio very early that unfortunate day. it's just so unfortunate that we are stuck in this yeye country and the most wrongful part of the country Lagos.
''Lagos is evil city!!!. who will stand up for my Santa Boya dead body to be released by Alagbado police station? I am not sleeping on it. Santa Boya a promising artist tha I trust his career so much that if his giving chance to stand side by side with Chris Brown he will outshine Chris Brown and any artist in the game. we lost good artist....
''Santa death is just a matter of bad circumstances. him no they drink o.. I can't deny his social smoking habit. But drinking of alcohol or something else... His always on room temperature water. Meanwhile, spokesperson of the state police command, SP Muyiwa Adejobi, who confirmed the incident on Saturday, said further investigation is currently being carried out by the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Panti, Yaba, where the case has been transferred to.
“Two were found dead while another two were unconscious and rushed to the hospital including the manager of the studio. Preliminary investigation showed there was a generator working. Maybe the fumes of the generator caused the problem but we won’t just say that because we need medical expertise to reveal it. There is no suspect for now because even the owner of the studio was also unconscious.” said SP Adejobi.
Mafhuz Majeed who resides in the area said that other artistes were found unconscious inside the studio.
“Nobody came out from the studio while a generator was left working. So, neighbours became suspicious and broke into the building through the window. Apart from the dead artistes, they met two others in a terrible condition. We had to rush them to a private hospital. The police have taken over the case and we don’t know the state of the men in Two artistes found dead inside Lagos studio, others hospitalised.”
A police report obtained from the Alagbado station said the studio manager identified as Murtala Azeez who was hospitalized has been interrogated.
“We received a distress call from an anonymous caller that a crowd was seen converging on a studio at Alagbado where rumour had it that some persons died inside," the report said.
“Upon receipt of the information, police operatives went to the scene, which is Coded Music Recording Studio at Awolusi bus stop. Two artistes, Ajibawo Lawal, 37, and Sunday Akhigbe, 12, were met inside the studio dead.
“One Mr Bamidele Olajide, neighbour of the same address had earlier met Dare Obadina and Azeez in a critical condition. A search was conducted inside the studio and the generator, condoms, bread and food that the deceased vomited and substances suspected to be hard drugs, including Indian hemp were found in the studio.
“Meanwhile, one Muritala Azeez, the owner of the studio, who is already in custody, admitted to having hired and kept them there and identified them as artistes who produce music for him. He further stated that he was with them physically on the previous night and later on the phone with them until 2am of September 3.
Further investigation is currently being carried out by the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Panti, Yaba, where the case has been transferred to.
