The Barcelona captain, on Wednesday night, made history in his side’s away La Liga 3-2 victory over Athletic Club.
Barcelona defeated Athletic Club, thanks to a brace from Lionel Messi and a strike from Pedri.
Inaki Williams and Iker Muniain did score for the host.
Messi’s brace against Athletic Club means the Argentine captain has now become the first Barcelona player to score two goals at the new San Mamés in the La Liga, according to Opta Jose.
The previous player to score two goals in a La Liga away game for Barcelona against Athletic Club was Javier Saviola in April 2002 at the old San Mamés.
The win over Athletic Club means Barcelona are now in the third position on the Premier League table with 31 points from 17 games
Messi will now hope to lead Ronald Koeman’s men to victory when they face Granada in their next La Liga fixture on Saturday.
