With recent stories reported online on Boko Haram terrorists' plan to infiltrate and attack Lagos and its residents, a shocking new story has revealed that the insurgents are already in the city as an attack on a family has been uncovered.
Boko Haram Terrorists
Earlier this year, it was reported that the Department of State Services (DSS) arrested some suspected Boko Haram members in connection with a foiled attack in Lagos.
Last year, it was widely reported in major online news platforms that a popular Boko Haram kingpin who was on the list of wanted terrorists by the Nigeria military, was arrested by men of the Civilian Joint Task Force at a motor park in Maiduguri, Borno State.
The notorious Islamist sect member was arrested at the park along with other suspected members of the group who escorted him to the park in Maiduguri to connect a vehicle to Biu en route Lagos.
With the above reports, it can be assumed that the deadly Boko Haram group may have already infilterated one of Africa's largest city, Lagos.
Nigerian Police
Our correspondent went inside the city to cover a story in the metropolis, and had an encounter with a victim of the Islamic radical's attack on his family in the Ibeju area of Lagos.
The victim whose name is Chukwudi (Surname withheld because of security reasons) disclosed exclusively to ToriNews like never heard before in Lagos.
He narrates:
"When I got back home to our Lekki residence from work on Friday, May 22nd 2015, I came down from the car to open the gate so I can drive in. Suddenly two armed men with their faces covered, wearing kaftan and military type boots, came out of nowhere and accosted me, one of them pointed a gun at me and the other had a dagger. They led me into my building and told me to ring the bell for my wife to open the door.
"My wife who was about five months pregnant on seeing me through the peep-hole, innocently opened but was shocked to see me held hostage by two men. They told us both to lie flat on our bellies not caring that my wife was about five months pregnant. Thinking they were armed robbers, we quickly offered them the N25,000 cash we had at home and other valuables but to our amazement they didn't want money, they were here for a different mission.
"One of them whom the other man referred to as Mustapha dragged our daughter from her room where she was fast asleep to the living room. She was startled as she woke up and started screaming and crying. He put a dagger to her throat and threatened to slit her throat if she didn't stop the noise.
My wife started praying for Jesus to save us. She was shouting 'the blood of Jesus'. She moved to grab our daughter but she was told she would see real blood from our daughter’s throat if she mentioned Jesus again. They pushed her to the floor and she hit the pregnancy bump on the floor and the other put his leg on my wife’s back, pressing her further to the floor.
"They went through the house picking up our bibles and prayer books and tore them into pieces. They knocked down and broke the images of Jesus that we had in the house all the while chanting 'Allahu Akbar.' They were terrorising us and forcing us to scream 'Allahu Akbar' and other islamic chants along with them. On their way out, the one carrying my daughter flung her away and she hit her head on the centre table. She started bleeding at the left side of her face. This torture lasted for about an hour.
The case was reported to the Nigerian Police and investigation is still ongoing.
As we hope that the Security agencies will track these criminal elements and curb this menace, It is advised that citizens should be vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
