Police Arrest Man For Threatening To Abduct His Relative's Child If He Fails To Pay Him N1M

The suspect was arrested for threatening to abduct his relative's child if they don't pay money.

A suspected kidnapper, Tukur Ahmad, who allegedly threatened to kidnap one of his relatives if he is not given the sum of One Million Naira has been arrested by the police in Kano state.

Spokesperson of the command, DSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, who disclosed this in a statement on Monday, September 27, said that the complainant had been receiving threats from an unknown person who demanded N1m otherwise he or one of his children would be kidnapped.

"On 01/09/2021 at about 1700 hours, a complaint was lodged by a resident of Danzabuwa Village, Bichi LGA, Kano State, that he was contacted and threatened on the telephone to pay the sum of One Million Naira (N1,000,000:00), otherwise himself or one of his children would be kidnapped,"
Kiyawa stated.

"Upon receipt of the complaint, the Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Sama’ila Shu’aibu Dikko, raised and instructed a team of detectives led by SP Shehu Dahiru to trace and arrest the culprit

"The team swiftly swung into action. Following credible intelligence and sustained follow up, traced and arrested the suspect one Tukur Ahmad, ‘m’, 28 years old, of Soro Daya Village, Tsanyawa LGA, Kano State at Panda Village, Keffi LGA, Nassarawa State on the 25/09/2021, i.e. 24 days after the report

"On preliminary investigation, the suspect disclosed he is a relative of the complainant and that he visits his house frequently. He confessed that, he contacted the complainant and demanded the sum of One Million Naira (N1,000,000:00), and that if he refuses to pay the money, one of his children would be kidnapped. Investigation into the case has been completed and suspect will be charged to court for prosecution."
he added.

The Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Sama’ila Shu’aibu Dikko, thanked the good people of the State for their continuous support and cooperation.

He urged residence to continue to pray for the State, the Nation and to report incidences to the nearest Police Station and not to take laws into their hands.

The statement says raids of criminal hideouts and black spots will continue throughout the State, until all criminally minded persons either repent or are arrested and brought before the law.

"The Command will continue to sustain the tempo in ensuring peaceful atmosphere in the State."
