Governor of the Central Bank of Nigerian (CBN), Godwin Emefiele has broken his silence over calls for him to run for President in 2023.
This comes as some big wigs in the All Progressive Congress, APC are urging him to declare his presidential ambition.
Speaking on Monday when he received a group tagged ‘Friends of Godwin Emefiele in his office in Abuja, Emefiele said only God knows who will succeed President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023.
The CBN governor stated that he would leave his fate firmly in the hands of God, adding that he has not confirmed to anyone if he is running for President.
He, however, stated it is the prerogative of President Buhari to choose his successor in order to carry on his developmental strides and in line with global best practices for good governance.
Emefiele said he remains humbled by President Muhammadu Buhari’s decision to grant him an unprecedented second term as CBN Governor- again without lobbying.
The CBN governor stated he will continue to remain loyal to the President and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
