Meet The Okada Rider Who Won Kaduna Reps Seat For Labour Party (Photo)

The member-elect, Mr. Donatus Mathew, thanked the electorates for the confidence reposed in him to represent them at the Federal level.

 
An Okada rider, Mr Donatus Matthew has shocked people in Kaduna state to win a House of Representatives seat last week Saturday under Labour Party.
 
Matthew won the Kaura federal constituency of Kaduna State.
 
His win caused great jubilation amongst commercial. motorcyclists ( Okada riders) in Southgern Kaduna.
 
Mathew defeated a 4 term member who was also the Minority Chief Whip of the House of Representatives, Hon.Giden Gwani.
 
While appreciating his former colleagues amongst hundreds of well wishers after he was declared the winner, the member-elect, Mr Donatus Mathew, thanked the electorates for the confidence reposed in him to represent them and solicited for support and cooperation from the people.
 
Earlier, the Returning  Oficer, Professor Elijah Ella, said Mathew got a total of 10,508 votes to defeat the incumbent member and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon Gideon Lucas Gwani, who got 10, 297 votes.
 
Mathew, according to sources was a councillor and commercial motorcyclist in Southern Kaduna..
 
Speaking to journalists shortly after the declaration of the winner, the member-elect, Mr. Donatus Mathew, thanked the electorates for the confidence reposed in him to represent them at the Federal level.
 
Donatus solicited support and cooperation from the people and pledged to carry everyone along to achieve desired success.
 
The incumbent member, Mr. Gideon Lucas Gwani, congratulated the member-elect and wished him well.
 
He urged his supporters to remain calm and accept the electorate’s will, even as he noted that God gives and takes power.
