Peter Obi’s Victory In Lagos Caught Us Unaware, We Can’t Allow It To Happen Again – APC Chieftain

Posted by Thandiubani on Tue 14th Mar, 2023 - tori.ng

The APC chieftain disclosed that Obi’s performance in the February 25 election actually caught his party unaware.

The All Progressives Congress has said victory of the Labour Party (LP) candidate, Peter Obi in Lagos during the presidential election in Lagos caught them by surprise.

Bidoun Ajiboye, assistant director of media and publicity for the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign made the statement while reacting to Obi’s performance in the February 25 election.

It would be recalled the Labour Party candidate defeated the APC candidate and former Governor, Bola Tinubu in Lagos State, polling 582,354 votes against the latter’s 572,606.

The result which happened in an APC stronghold is considered one of the greatest upsets of the presidential polls.

However, speaking about the development on Tuesday during an interview with Arise TV, Ajiboye said the APC has woken up and won’t allow a repeat of such an episode.

According to him, people can not understand what it will mean for LP to win Lagos State in the March 18 governorship polls.

“We were caught unaware to a larger extent. It was like an insurgence upon our political fortress. They came without us expecting but now that they have done it.

“We are now very much awake and know where and what to do to ensure that a repeat of such calamity does not happen. People do not understand the enormity of what it would mean for the Labour Party to win Lagos state,” he said.

Obi’s performance during the presidential election has given fresh life to the ambition of his party’s gubernatorial candidate in Lagos, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour who is hoping to build on the momentum and unseat the incumbent Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu who is the APC candidate for the forthcoming polls.
