The police officer, Inspector Ebri Ubi, who shot and killed a trader, Onyeka Ibe, for allegedly refusing to give him a N100 bribe has been dismissed by the Delta State Police Command.
The incident occurred on April 5, 2023, when Ubi was on stop-and-search duty with his team along Ugbolu-Illah Road, Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State.
The victim, a phone seller, was shot in the presence of his wife who was in the car with him.
Following public outcry, the state Commissioner of Police, Ari Muhammed Ali, swiftly issued a statement ordering the arrest of the killer cop.
Spokesperson of the command, DSP Bright Edafe, who disclosed this in a statement said the trigger-happy cop will be charged in court on Wednesday, April 19, 2023.
“INSPR has been dismissed from the Nigeria Police Force and will be charged to court tomorrow Wednesday 19th April 2023. The court will be determined tomorrow,” he stated.
