UPDATE: 4 Residents Killed, 166 Houses Submerged, 26 Vehicles Swept Away In Abuja Estate

New updates have emerged about the Abuja estate, Trademore which was ravaged by flood.

According to SaharaReporters, about four residents of the Nigeria's Capital Territory FCT, Abuja, have reportedly lost their lives as the floods ravaged Trademore Estate and others.

Although the Director General, Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Emergency Management Agency, Dr Abbas Idriss, denied that any life was lost, the agency said that more than 26 vehicles were swept away in the flooding.

The FEMA further disclosed that about 166 houses were affected in Trademoore Estate, while a tarred road was completely washed off after an early morning rain flooded the Trademore Estate along Airport Road in Abuja.

Idriss appealed to residents whose houses are built on the water channel to relocate, stressing that the flood at Trademore Estate was caused by infractions on the water channel.

FEMA's Head, Public Affairs, Nkechi Isa, who spoke to journalists in Abuja, quoted her boss as saying that the Trademore estate was prone to flooding.

“The floods have receded, l appreciate all stakeholders and residents for their efforts and cooperation at Trademore Estate to ensure that no life was lost," she quoted the DG as said.

SaharaReporters had reported earlier that the Nigeria Hydrological Services Agency, NIHSA, had predicted heavy flooding in the FCT and some other states across the country, and warned those living along those areas to relocates to a safer places.
