Jide Awobona, a Nigerian movie star, has reacted to the incident that led to the death of his colleague, Pope Odonwodo, popularly known as Junior Pope.
Awobona faulted the producer for failing to inquire about the safety of the location and faulted the crew for endangering their lives.
In a post via his Instagram account on Thursday, April 11, he wrote: "In film school, I learnt that in a situation like this, the producer would be arrested and the cast and crew that risked their lives too! It’s in your right as a producer to ask about your vicinity whether it’s right for them to pass that river and for the life jacket they should move at a slower pace or fvcking get a life jacket or shoot elsewhere!
"Whether yall like it or not the fault would be heaps on the producer, it’s her fvcking job! Ki Oloun saanu wa ma je ka sise! Hope yall know it’s not only jnr Pope that died sa!
"And I’m sure this job he went to is the type of “na my person make I go help her do am” we all risk it for our people too! I’m not portioning blame I’m just saying the fact! It could have been me in jnr Pope’s shoe or the producer’s shoe….. We need to just do better in Nollywood! What’s the essence of our guild and all edakun truth be told jhoor!"
