Rangers Vs Enyimba: NPFL Awards Three Points to Rangers

 

Rangers FC has been awarded 3 points by the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) after Enyimba abandoned their derby game following a penalty call.

 

Recall that Enyimba walked out of the game in stoppage time on account of a penalty awarded to the hosts.

 

The Aba giants fans also invaded the pitch afterwards.

 

The NPFL also fined Enyimba N10m for the unruly behaviour of their players, officials and supporters during the game.

 

The league body has also fined Rangers N5m for various offences, including non provision of adequate security, encroachment on the pitch by fans and other unauthorized persons, as well as sales of tickets to spectators exceeding the stadium capacity.

 

Both clubs have 48 hours to appeal the decision.

 

With this development, Rangers now remain on course to win the 2023/24 season NPFL title.

 

The Flying Antelopes top the standings with 64 points from 35 games.
