Governor Alia Promises to Pay Medical Corps Members Additional ₦‎100,000 Monthly

The Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr Hyacinth Iormen Alia has made a promise to medical corps members in the state.
 
He promised to pay them additonal One Hundred thousand Naira (N100,000.00) as state allowance in addition to their N33,000 federal allowance.
 
He added that non-medical corps members will continue to receive N15,000 as state allowance in addition to their N33,000 federal allowance.
 
The Governor, represented by the Chairman of the NYSC State Governing Board and Commissioner of Youths and Sports Development, Mr Terkimbi Ikyange, gave the assurance during his address at the official closing ceremony of the Orientation Course exercise, at NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Wannune, Tarka Local Government Area of the State.

Alia also assured the 2024 Batch B stream 1 Corps Members deployed to State for the one-year national service, that the state government has put in place adequate measures to ensure their security and safety wherever they are posted for the Place of Primary Assignment.
 
He commended Corps Members for their good conduct during the three weeks Orientation exercises and advised them to initiate meaningful community development projects to give back to society by dispensing selfless, intellectual services to members of their host communities, to gradually add value to their lives as they exit the Camp.
 
He said: “Community service is one of the most crucial and demanding aspects of the service year; remain diligent and purposeful in carrying out this national assignment.”
 
The governor equally reiterated his commitments to the welfare and security of corps members in the state.
 
He also commended the management of NYSC Benue State for their care and leadership to the Corps Members, emphasising that he will not rest on his oars until the ongoing road network construction within the Camp is seen to its logical conclusion.
 
The State Coordinator, Mr Abe Dankaro Ashumate, expressed gratitude to the Governor for providing an environment that is enabling to the NYSC Scheme to thrive in the state in line with the NYSC objectives. He also commended the governor for the government’s positive disposition towards the regular payment of monthly state allowances to corps members and corps doctors serving in the State.
 
He also advised the corps members to be good ambassadors of the NYSC and their respective institutions of graduation as they embarked on the second phase of the National Service.
 
He said: “Stay away from all negative acts that are inimical to the image of the Scheme and your families, especially drug abuse and trafficking, cultism and bribery, amongst others.“
