Gov Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has stated that he replicated the leadership model and virtues of Michael Okpara across the state.

He said the leadership model of the former premier of the Eastern region, Michael Okpara, helped in the transformation of Imo State by his administration.

Uzodimma said this on Thursday while speaking on the topic, ‘Service Above Self: Lessons from the Leadership Philosophy of Dr. Michael Okpara,’ at the Michael Okpara Leadership Lecture and Award 2024, in Abuja.

The chairman All Progressives Congress (APC) Governors Forum explained that “Okpara’s leadership transformed the Eastern Region’s economy into the fastest-growing in Africa. Interestingly, I have replicated same in our dear Imo State and we are on course to a greater economy.”

He added that “Nigeria’s future prosperity and good governance hinge on adopting the leadership model” of the former premier of the Eastern region.

“Excellent in selfless service, agriculture and industrialization, I firmly believe that if we emulate Okpara’s virtues characterized by integrity, vision and inclusivity, our nation would flourish,” he said.

He advised Nigerian leaders to prioritize selfless service over personal gain and urged citizens to commit fully to the country’s development.

He decried that while Michael Okpara‘s legacies would continue to inspire generations, he has not been given the adequate recognition he deserved.

“Okpara’s enduring legacies will inspire future generations, his contributions have not been adequately recognized but, the ongoing lecture series is a commendable effort to preserve his legacy and as such, I deeply appreciate the efforts of the organizers,”
Uzodimma added.
