Gunmen Abduct Argentinean In Niger State

Reports from Agence France-Presse (AFP)has revealed that a whiteman working with Nigerian Flour Mills Plc has been kidnapped in Niger state by some unidentified gunmen.

Gunmen have kidnapped an Argentinean national near a farm where he was working in Niger state, police said on Thursday.

Santiago Lopez Menendez was seized on Wednesday in the town of Machagu as he travelled on the Mokwa to Kontagora road in the west of the state, said commissioner of police Olusola Amore.

“We normally provide protection to all foreigners working on farms and elsewhere in the state. But he (Menendez) chose to travel alone on the bad road without police protection and they kidnapped him,” the commissioner told AFP.

The foreigner works for Nigerian Flour Mills managing two farms in the Sunti and Kabbugi districts of Niger state.

Major preparations are being made by the Nigerian Police Force to recover the abducted man and bring the criminals to book.
