A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Peter Obi, has described Nigeria as a wealthy country that politicians have transformed into a crime scene and a hub of unemployment.
Speaking at the Church of Nigeria Anglican Communion Standing Committee Meeting at St. Stephen’s Anglican Church, Nnewi, Anambra State, Obi cited mismanagement of public resources as a key challenge.
Obi lauded Bishop Ephraim Ikeakor for transforming the Amichi Diocese.
The former Labour Party presidential candidate slammed Nigerian politicians for misappropriating funds and prioritizing frivolities over critical institutions.
“The problem of Nigeria is we, the politicians. We are the problem of the country. We spend money on frivolities leaving important institutions to rot away.
“The best schools in the state now are run by the church, yet the government does not give them subvention,” he said.
