Fix Nigeria First: Peter Obi Tasks ADC Members After Successful Convention Against All Odds

Following the successful 2026 ADC National Convention in Abuja, Peter Obi has called for an immediate shift from political celebration to national rescue.

After the African Democratic Congress's (ADC) national convention in Abuja, Peter Obi thanked the party's members and supporters and urged a change from celebration to tackling Nigeria's urgent problems.

Obi characterized the convention as a pivotal point in the nation's democratic journey in a statement released following it on Tuesday, pointing out that it was successfully conducted in spite of difficulties.

"We witnessed yet another pivotal moment in our democratic journey yesterday, as the ADC convention was successfully held against all odds," he declared. He praised the party's leadership, especially David Mark, the National Chairman, for giving guidance at a crucial time.

The former Anambra State governor also praised the convention organising committee led by Liyel Imoke for ensuring the success of the event.

He added, “My gratitude equally goes to the convention organising committee led by H.E Liyel Imoke, whose diligence, sacrifice, and attention to detail ensured that this convention was not only held, but was successful in every sense of the word.”

Obi extended his appreciation to party delegates, supporters, and Nigerians at large, crediting them for sustaining democratic ideals.

"I sincerely appreciate our delegates, party loyalists, volunteers, and supporters throughout Nigeria and beyond. He remarked, "You have once again shown that democracy flourishes when the people don't give up on it."

He, however, emphasised that the focus must now shift to tackling the country’s socio-economic challenges. Nigeria is facing very serious challenges, economic hardship, insecurity, unemployment, and a general sense of uncertainty among our people,” Obi noted.

He believes that the conference should act as a catalyst for a reinvigorated dedication to nation-building and governance. “The success of this convention must therefore not end as an event; it must become a renewed commitment to building a nation that works for everyone,” he said.

"We must put Nigeria first, above personal interests, above politics, and above all forms of division," Obi continued, urging unity and putting the country's interests first.
