Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has raised the alarm over reports of threats to peace and security in Ikirun town, while directing the Nigeria Police to act swiftly on allegations that community leaders in the area are being harassed.
In a statement released by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, the governor expressed deep concern over reports that kingmakers and other prominent figures in Ikirun had been subjected to intimidation, warning that such developments could erode the relative calm the community currently enjoys.
According to the statement, leaders in Ikirun reached out with a distress message claiming that unidentified security personnel had been harassing kingmakers since the early hours of the day.
Governor Adeleke cautioned that if the allegations were not swiftly addressed, they could stoke tensions and disturb public order in the town.
In response, the governor directed the state Commissioner of Police to promptly investigate the situation and take steps to restore normalcy.
He specifically instructed the police command to shield the kingmakers from further harassment and to ensure the safety of residents, the palace, and all stakeholders in the community.
Governor Adeleke stressed the importance of protecting the peace that has been established in Ikirun, reaffirming his administration's dedication to upholding law and order throughout Osun State and guaranteeing the rights and safety of all citizens.
