President Bola Tinubu has given his approval for the appointment of Ms. Adedayo Benjamin Laniyi as the new Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the Maryam Babangida National Centre for Women Development (MBNCWD), alongside members of its Governing Council, for an initial four-year tenure.
The appointment was communicated through an official letter signed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, and takes effect from April 18, 2026.
It was made in line with the provisions of Section 7(1) and (3) of the National Centre for Women Development (Amendment) Act, 2023.
In addition to the DG's appointment, President Tinubu also approved the composition of the Centre's Governing Council, with Princess Joan Jummai Idonije named as Chairman.
Other members of the Council include Ms. Lois Auta, Hon. Jamila Sarki, Aisha Baiyee, Hon. Jumoke Okoya-Thomas, and Hon. Princess Anne Agom-Eze.
The President congratulated Ms. Laniyi and all newly appointed Council members, wishing them success as they take on their new responsibilities.
