The Adamawa State governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Omar Suleiman, has firmly dismissed speculation that he is withdrawing from the governorship race following the defection of his key backer, Babachir Lawal, from the party.

The rumours emerged after Babachir one of two factional ADC leaders in Adamawa State, alongside presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar announced his departure from the party earlier in the week, alleging that Atiku had rigged the party's primary elections to favour himself and his allies.

The development sparked speculation that Suleiman might abandon his governorship bid to align with Babachir.

However, in a statement issued through his aide Abdullahi Malgwi, Suleiman described the reports as false, misleading, and entirely without basis.

He reaffirmed his commitment to the race and to his vision for Adamawa State, urging supporters, party members, and the general public to disregard the speculation completely.
