Abia State Governor Alex Otti joined Vice President Kashim Shettima, fellow governors, and investors from across Nigeria and around the world at the opening ceremony of Invest Lagos 3.0, held at the Convention Centre of Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island.
At the event, the governor highlighted Abia's ongoing transformation, describing it as a story of resilience and opportunity.
He opened by commending Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for creating a platform that allows states to showcase their strengths, noting that while Lagos is a megacity, Nigeria requires more thriving cities to absorb growth.
On energy, Otti disclosed that Aba now enjoys 24-hour electricity through Geometric Power an achievement he described as the foundation for industry, manufacturing, and investor confidence after two decades of effort.
He added that reliable power would be extended from Aba to Umuahia and other parts of the state, underscoring the government's view that energy is central to economic growth.
The governor also highlighted infrastructure milestones, including the completion of over 400 roads in three years, the introduction of electric buses, and broader investments in mobility.
On healthcare, he noted that Abia has been ranked Nigeria's most health-emergency prepared state in the SBM 2025 Report, with hundreds of facilities refurbished, over 800 professionals recruited, and 15 per cent of the state budget dedicated to the sector.
He described the proposed Abia Medical City as the state's most ambitious vision, with 200 hectares of land and access roads already prepared, and called on investors to partner with the government in building a world-class healthcare destination.
Otti also spotlighted the Abia Industrial and Innovation Park in Owaza, Ukwa West Local Government Area, where oil and gas resources are being harnessed as a foundation for future industries.
He stressed that Abia is not in competition with Lagos but is rather complementing it, and affirmed that the state is open, prepared, and positioned for growth.
