Football player Cristiano Ronaldo and his longtime partner Georgina Rodriguez have tied the knot in a private ceremony in Portugal.

One year after announcing their engagement, the couple exchanged vows on Tuesday.

According to reports, their five kids were there to witness the momentous occasion.

Ronaldo posted a picture from the event with the straightforward description online to share the good news with his millions of followers: "C❤️G."

Ronaldo and Georgina were wed in a civil ceremony in Cascais, Portugal, according to the football player's representative.

The agent stated: "Today, at a civil ceremony held in Cascais, Portugal, Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodriguez were formally married.

"Their five children attended the ceremony, which was a private and personal occasion."

The football legend and the Spanish model, who have been dating for a number of years, started a new chapter in their relationship with the wedding.

Only a few days had passed since rumors surfaced that the pair would tie the knot in Madeira's Funchal Cathedral.

Thousands of people flocked to the church in the hopes of seeing Ronaldo and Georgina on their special day due to the rumors.

It was eventually discovered, tho, that the pair had no intention of getting married there.

The event at the cathedral turned out to be the wedding of another Portuguese couple from Madeira, Fabio Ramos and Fatima Nicole Cunha Teixeira, who had no connection to Ronaldo or Georgina
