Troops Rescue 14 Kidnap Victims After Terrorist Clash in Katsina

A military operation in Katsina State has ended with 14 kidnapped victims walking free after troops confronted an armed group moving through a forest with captives.

Soldiers from Operation Fansan Yamma have rescued 14 kidnapped people after conf%ont!ng t£rr0rists moving through Sabuwa Local Government Area of Katsina State.

The operation happened on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, around Madaci Forest after troops received information about t£rr0r elements moving with captives.

Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, the Media Information Officer for Operation Fansan Yamma, said the soldiers quickly moved to the location and engaged the armed group.

According to Danja, the troops made contact with the t£rr0rists and fought them, forcing the group to abandon the hostages and scatter into nearby bush.

The soldiers then searched the area and freed all 14 victims six men and eight women.

Danja said preliminary investigations showed the kidnapped people had been taken from different areas around Dandume, Bakori and Funtua in Katsina State.

The rescued victims were handed over to local government authorities so they could be reunited with their families and receive further help.

Danja said the rescue showed how determined the troops are to protect residents and stop t£rr0rists from committing crimes in the region.

He said the military command assures the public that soldiers will keep putting pressure on armed t£rr0r elements and increase operations to keep communities safe across the North-West.

Danja also asked residents to keep helping security agencies by providing accurate and timely information that could support ongoing military operations.
