Afrobeats musician David Adeleke, known as Davido, has refused to apologise to Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo over his decision to post what he claimed were the governor's WAEC exam results on social media.

Davido said he did nothing wrong and had no reason to apologise.

He maintained that he shared the alleged examination results to inform Edo residents about the academic qualifications of their governor.

He said he was simply showing people the results their governor obtained.

The dispute began when Okpebholo, campaigning for the ruling party's candidate in an Osun State election, criticised Osun Governor Ademola Adeleke Davido's uncle over his frequent dancing at political events.

Okpebholo questioned Adeleke's leadership style while supporting his party's choice during the August 15 governorship election.

Davido responded by posting what appeared to be Okpebholo's WAEC results on social media.

The post generated mixed reactions online.

Some people called on Davido to apologise, with a legal practitioner, Timothy Tugbiyele, describing the post as inappropriate and urging Davido to say sorry to the Edo governor.

However, Davido defended his action, arguing that the controversy started when Okpebholo left Edo State to campaign in Osun and made comments about his uncle.

Davido also used the opportunity to criticise the condition of the road leading to the Edo State Government House as part of his broader criticism of Okpebholo's administration.

The singer suggested the issue could come up again during the governor's re-election campaign, hinting that he and others would return to Edo State to challenge Okpebholo politically when the time comes.

The exchange reflects the broader political tensions surrounding the Osun election, with Davido openly supporting Adeleke while Okpebholo campaigned for the opposing candidate.

The alleged WAEC document shared by Davido has not been independently verified.
