Schoolboys Forcefully Circumcise 11-Year-Old in Pretoria Toilet

An 11-year-old boy was allegedly dragged into a school toilet and forcibly circumcised by four older pupils at his school in South Africa.

The incident happened during break time at the primary school in a township north of Pretoria when the younger boy was attacked by four Grade 7 pupils.

The attackers held the boy down and cut off his foreskin while threatening him not to tell anyone what had happened.

After the att@ck, the boy went home but did not immediately tell his parents.

His mother later noticed he was walking strangely and complained of severe pain.

When his mother asked what was wrong, the boy showed her his swollen private parts and explained that the four older pupils had att@cked him in the school toilet.

He said they had tied a red ribbon around his penis before cutting his foreskin.

The older boys warned him they would b£at him if he told anyone.

The mother immediately took her son to a doctor and then opened a criminal case with police.

Police are investigating the matter as assault with intent to cause serious inj@ry.

No arrests have been made yet, though the boy was taken back to school to try to identify the attackers.

His mother expressed worry about letting him return to classes.

The school's deputy principal called the incident disturbing, saying schools are supposed to be safe places for children.

The regional education department said it is waiting for police findings before deciding what action to take.

The incident highlights ongoing concerns about unsafe circumcision practices in South Africa, where some traditional initiation schools have been linked to serious injuries and d£aths among boys undergoing the procedure.
