A civil society group has raised eyebrows over the reported state of an international airport in Ebonyi State, alleging that the facility is being used for church services instead of regular flight operations.

A civil society group spokesman has alleged that an airport in Ebonyi State is being used as a church worship centre.

The spokesman said that aside from private flights allegedly used by the state governor and his wife, no commercial flights operate from the Chuba Okadigbo International Airport.

Speaking on a television programme on Thursday, the spokesman said a church has taken over the airport and uses it for Sunday and midweek services.

He described the situation as unfortunate and said videos circulating online showed the church using the facility for worship.

According to him, the airport receives only private chartered flights belonging to the governor and his wife at public expense, while no other private individual or commercial flight lands there.

He stressed that this reflects the true state of operations at the airport currently.

The spokesman expressed frustration with the alleged use of the public facility for religious services, describing it as shameful and reflecting the poor state of affairs at the airport.
