Nigerian singer Mayorkun has said he would run a DNA test before accepting a child as his own.
He shared this on the In My Opinion Podcast, where he spoke about relationships, marriage, trust, paternity and monogamy.
Mayorkun said he has already told his girlfriend he wants a prenup before marriage and a DNA test once she gives him a child.
According to him, she was upset by the idea.
He said he is not changing his stance and has even thought about doing the test without telling her.
In his words, if the child is his, there is no issue, but if not, everybody will hear about it.
His comments have got people talking about trust, paternity and whether DNA testing has a place in relationships.
The topic has been a hot one in Nigeria for a while, especially on social media, where paternity disputes often spark strong reactions.
On the podcast, Mayorkun and the hosts also debated whether asking a partner for a DNA test shows a lack of trust.
The episode also touched on friendship breakups, Black tax, Afrobeats, his decade-long music career and his bond with Davido.
Mayorkun rose to fame after joining Davido Music Worldwide in 2016.
He later left the label and now works as a solo act, while staying on good terms with Davido.
His latest remarks have sparked more reactions online, with some asking if DNA tests should be routine and others saying they should only happen when there is a real concern.
