The Ogun State Police Command has warned schoolgirls to stay away from cultism, cybercrime, drug abuse and child marriage.
The message came during an awareness campaign to mark the 2026 International Day of the Girl Child.
The campaign took place at Abeokuta Girls Grammar School and Baptist Girls College in Idi-Aba, Abeokuta.
It was run by the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices, known as POCACOV, and led by the state coordinator, ASP Opeyemi Oluborode.
Oluborode told the students that these vices could ruin their education and their future.
He also spoke about gender equality, access to education and the legal protection children have under the Child Rights Act.
He urged the girls to resist discrimination, abuse and harmful practices.
He told them to focus on education, discipline and self-confidence.
He said being a girl should never stop anyone from being excellent.
The police also called for teamwork between the police, schools, parents and community leaders to keep children safe.
They asked people to report any case of child abuse or exploitation.
The students promised to stay away from bad habits, refuse child marriage and work hard in school.
The management of both schools praised the police for putting child protection and youth development first.
