The Inter Party Advisory Council, IPAC, in Yobe State has sacked its chairman, Umaru Jajere, and secretary, Mustapha Gado.

The council made the decision at an emergency meeting on Thursday at its secretariat along Potiskum Road in Damaturu.

In a statement signed by its Acting Secretary, Habiba Umaru, the council said member parties passed a vote of no confidence in the two officials.

They were accused of mismanagement, a lack of transparency and making decisions without consulting member parties.

The council also said they skipped regular executive and general assembly meetings.

The council brought a much worse accusation against them

It said the two men used IPAC's name to collect quarterly palliatives from the North East Development Commission and other government and non-governmental bodies.

It said they allegedly kept these benefits for themselves, without telling or sharing them with member parties.

Jajere belongs to the Action Peoples Party, while Gado is with the Action Democratic Party.

IPAC has told the former officials to stop acting for the council and to hand over all official documents, records and property they hold.

The council named Mukhtar Audu Hassan of the All Progressives Congress as acting chairman.

It also named Umaru of the Young Progressives Party as acting secretary.

Both appointments took effect immediately and will stay in place until further notice and fresh elections.

Hassan promised more transparency, inclusion and accountability.

He asked member parties to stay united and back the new team.

Umaru said the council will work with INEC, the Yobe State Government, security agencies and the media to promote peaceful politics and credible elections.

IPAC has asked its national secretariat, INEC, the state government, security agencies and the NEDC to recognise the new acting leaders.

Team also asked the public not to listen to anyone else claiming to be the group's leader or secretary.
