On Saturday, the APC proudly welcomed 1, 150 new members defecting from the PDP in Bayelsa, ahead of the highly anticipated governorship election in the state slated for December 5, 2015.
Among the defectors, one of the most notable former PDP members was Mr Timi Alaibe, the former Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
Alaibe said "change has come to Bayelsa. This is commonsense revolution. When you say change, it is not change for the sake of it."
Adding that "People say change is constant. But it is not for the sake of it. We are changing from poverty to prosperity."
"We are changing from deceit, intimidation and manipulations. We are saying 'No' to wayo," he said.
He also said that he joined the APC, because "the cry of the suffering people of the Bayelsa State for a change and the inability of the PDP administration to properly utilize its oil wealth for the provision of basic infrastructure for the people."
